Yesterday afternoon I did a little hour of happiness with my
Sal Pal. It was so refreshing and much needed.
We added some people then subtracted some people.. until it
was just me, Sal Pal, and a guy coach.
We’re sitting there chattin it up when Sal Pal goes, “Oh
yeah, and that one blog post you wrote about!”
And the guy
coach proceeds to say, “YOU have a BLOG????”
Cue sweaty palms, glares at Sal Pal, and all
around sheer panic. I started stuttering and back tracking and really had no
clue what to say but it went a little something like this.
“You don’t
strike me as a blogger!”
Uh, thanks? I never really thought I’d be
here either, but here I am!
“Let me see
it!”
We’re not at that level of friendship yet?
Is that socially acceptable to say? I didn't mean that in a bad way. It’s so personal!
“What do you
even blog about?”
Uh… life? Anything, and everything. I’ll
probably blog about this. Cue laughter. No, really. I will probably blog about
this.
“Don’t
worry. Your secret is safe with me.”
That would be great, because I really
do not want anyone to know. I’m ok with you knowing, I just don’t want it to be
out on display for my whole school or district to see.
“But it’s on
the internet.. so really, anyone can see it, right?”
Well yes, but that’s totally different.
Sidenote: I finally ended up showing him and he actually
thought “this is really cool.” He loved Duck Dude’s nickname and we even got
into a discussion about the “this is not advice” post.
I love this post title! Why is it so much easier to be open with strangers? I am so awkward when I tell people I know that I have a blog eek!
ReplyDeleteIt really is! I am just glad I am not the only one! ha
