Cover Blown

Yesterday afternoon I did a little hour of happiness with my Sal Pal. It was so refreshing and much needed.

We added some people then subtracted some people.. until it was just me, Sal Pal, and a guy coach.

We’re sitting there chattin it up when Sal Pal goes, “Oh yeah, and that one blog post you wrote about!”

And the guy coach proceeds to say, “YOU have a BLOG????”
Cue sweaty palms, glares at Sal Pal, and all around sheer panic. I started stuttering and back tracking and really had no clue what to say but it went a little something like this.

“You don’t strike me as a blogger!”
Uh, thanks? I never really thought I’d be here either, but here I am!

“Let me see it!”
We’re not at that level of friendship yet? Is that socially acceptable to say? I didn't mean that in a bad way. It’s so personal!

“What do you even blog about?”
Uh… life? Anything, and everything. I’ll probably blog about this. Cue laughter. No, really. I will probably blog about this.

“Don’t worry. Your secret is safe with me.”
That would be great, because I really do not want anyone to know. I’m ok with you knowing, I just don’t want it to be out on display for my whole school or district to see.

“But it’s on the internet.. so really, anyone can see it, right?”
Well yes, but that’s totally different.

Sidenote: I finally ended up showing him and he actually thought “this is really cool.” He loved Duck Dude’s nickname and we even got into a discussion about the “this is not advice” post.

How do you react when your secret identity is not so secret anymore?

And it's Friday!!!!!

Guilt Free Nuggets

Last night it was just me and I wanted to make something where I'd have leftovers. Once I started making these glorious little nuggets, I knew I should have waited for a night when Duck Dude was with me. I'm sure I'll be making them soon enough for him!

The best thing about these is you could make them as a meal, you could make them as an appetizer, you can take them to a party and people will rant and rave over them, or you could make them all for yourself! They are super easy, super simple, and taste like chicken nuggets without all the fried stuff!

Steps 1 and 4

I used Italian breadcrumbs, so I only added 1Tbsp of basil to my mixture... if I was using regular breadcrumbs, I would add more basil. Step 5 on the right!

Step 6! I'm already excited for lunch today!

If you make any modifications, let me know!

This is Not Advice

I'm about to talk about my relationship. I also just laughed out loud as I typed that sentence.

I will never ever give relationship advice on this little piece of the webs. So I, repeat, this is not advice.

This is simply an observation.

Also on this world wide web is a little thing called the book of faces, or Facebook. There I get to observe words that people decide they should post to all of their friends, acquaintances, family, old friends, high school friends, frenemies, and people they met one time in their life and have never talked to again.

The other night as I was scrolling through, there was a post that caught my attention. It was by a girl that I haven't talked to in years and she was posting about her relationship. {Just so we are being upfront, I, honestly, have zero clue what her relationship is like... other than the snipets she puts on the fb.}

Here is my observation. I am Brian in this situation. Not in the sense that Duck Dude and I have that conversation, I'll get to that part in a second -- in the sense that I've never been the type of person who does the whole "No, you hang up first!" "No, YOUUU hang up first!" "Let's hang up on three... one, two... three!" "Hello? You didn't hang up!"

Nope. Here was me... click.

I do not want to "argue", even if it's a cutesy argument, over who puts more into the relationship. I do not believe there will be a "winner" in that situation. Because even if it was a cutesy argument, who is putting the sadface emoji at the end of their fb post?

Duck Dude and I ended up having a conversation soon after we began saying "I love you." It was probably a grand total of 3 minutes. There would be no "I love you mores" in our relationship. It would simply be "I love you" and "I love you too." We are two very competitive people, but this is one area where I do not want to be in a competition.

I want to be in a partnership. An equally loving partnership.

Cartwheels and Round Offs

If you haven't heard of Cartwheel, you are so late to the party.

Just kidding. I had heard of it and wasn't using it, until last Friday when I decided I would try it. So I drove  went to the app store and downloaded it! Then I played around with it, figured it out, and told Duck Dude before I came over for Dinner Club I had to, no other option go to Target.

Here was a glimpse at my coupon list from Cartwheel. What you cannot see is 10% Women's hats, 10% Women's belts, and 5% off of Tide laundry detergent, and two more things I cannot remember now.

Then I left target with $145 dollars with of things. What things? Some Mother's Day cards and a belt, a hat, a pair of shorts, a pair of shoes, a pair of ankle pants, and a nautical rope sweater!

Duck Dude wanted me to rock the hat at the Crawfish boil, but I wasn't quite ready. I'm going to get there though and it's definitely coming on vacation!!

Now let's talk about the round off part. I told you I started with a$145 total. That's about typical for Target.... am I right??

Cartwheel saved me $6.95
Target being awesome saved me &12

That brought my total to $127.

Then, because it was Teacher's Appreciation week and my kids apparently know me too well by this time in the year, I had received several Target gift-cards.

So, 4 gift-cards later and my total is $42.
Grand moral of the story? Get cartwheel ASAP! (Especially if your nickname is Shop Mama)

Crawfish Recap

Don't worry y'all, my Friday got better. We had our dinner club and I got to hang with one of my favorite babies. Her momma made me squeal out loud when she pulled out a gift her uncle got her.... a baby Tory Burch. Like shut the front door and all the windows. It was amazing and I immediately started snapping pictures.
What is she pulling out of her purse in the picture? A cracker, and I told her I keep food in my purse too.

Then Saturday, I took Duck Dude to Ham and Eggs, however I down sized my plate a little. I didn't want to be stuffed for our crawfish boil we were going to attend. Duck Dude loved it and has already said we have to take his sister and Naked Nick there, because Naked Nick loves his panclocks.

Then we went a crawfishin' and had the most glorious afternoon/evening/night in all of crawfish land. My salad went so fast I barely got any, so I'll have to make it again and throw it up on the blog land. We listened to the live band, sang along, and then Duck Dude and another man challenged two 6th graders to a 2 on 2 basketball game and lost. Duck Dude has the blood blisters to prove it, but I'm more worried about his pride. :) Is there really anything better than a good crawfish boil? I think not.

Sunday I spent with my momma and my D-Mommy and it was relaxing and wonderful. Then my friend Kristen spent the night with me so she could be super close to a job fair today. We couldn't decide where to go to dinner, so we literally picked out of a hat.

And that was my weekend.
