Chicken and Steak Kabobs

Back when Duck Dude and I were in the final stages of preparing for our wedding, we missed getting to make dinner for our friends who had brought their second little girl home from the hospital.

So, I pulled from my favorite pinterest recipes and made dinner for them last night! However, we hosted it at their house... because with a 2 year old and 2 month old, we wanted them to have their own toys readily available!

Before dinner, we swung, and watched airplanes in the sky, and answered a lot of questions like "Where did your dress go?" (she was referring to my wedding dress.. she followed me around at the wedding and told me "your dress so beautiful!")

She was a big helper outside... "What's this?".... "What's this?" while I rocked the little one to sleep inside! It was the best Monday night!

Then, we ate!
from the Local Kitchen
It's just so refreshing and it feels like summer. I love it.

I didn't take a picture because I'm really good. So, here's one from Skinnytaste... which is a better picture than I can take anyway!

Luckily, all of the boys love Spinach... she has another recipe that is broccoli macaroni and cheese if you wanted to switch it up from spinach! As for me? All spinach, errrrr'thang.

from Simply Scratch
The marinade was good.... it didn't blow me away. But the boys loved them and so did I!

It was so fun hanging with our married friends, now that we're married!!! It was like.. we really are going to do this for the rest of our lives!!  And I didn't hate it.. at all.

Celina Crawfish Festival

In the words of my newest sister... "Maybe we should be festival people!!"

On Saturday, we went to the Celina crawfish festival. Celina is a small Texas town of 6, 744... but last year, my sister and brother in law found this little festival and told us we had to attend. There was music, drinks, old cars, and a whole lotta sunshine!! It was the most perfect March Saturday ever... well, the 2nd most perfect March Saturday ever.

There were a ton of old cars that I could tell you nothing about besides, I really like the color of that blue truck. It's so prettttty.

Then they had this other truck that had a crane on it that hoisted these huge pots of crawfish from one pot into the other. After they are finished cooking, they move them to the third pot where they use a little gate to put them into the coolers. Then they carry the coolers over to the serving line, ready to get a nice plate of crawfish, potatoes, and corn. You throw a dash of spicy cajun seasoning on there and dig in!

And dig in we did!!! I love the messiness of crawfish! It makes it feel like it's almost summer! (Which is 68 days if anyone is wondering)

And crawfish is always better with family. Always.

And now, my Monday is not as bad, because I just got to relive my wonderful Saturday! Maybe that's why we recap on Mondays!

Mini Crisis - Not Teasing

Y'all, we have a serious problem here. This is not a joke. So serious, I'm calling it a mini crisis.

I've lost something. Something near and dear to me. Something I use at least three times a week. Something that traveled with me to my three houses during the months leading up to the wedding. Something that when my friends asked if it was being packed for the honeymoon I said, duh!!! My favorite beauty product.

My teasing brush.

People have been saying things like, "Mollie, is that you?".... Strangers have said, "Oh, are you from Iowa? No? I thought so, because your hair is so flat." My students are like, "Ms. Sheridan? I didn't know you shrunk when you got married."

I've felt less connected to God.... because, well, my hair is just not as close to him anymore.

I've looked up new brushes on Ulta's website, but it just didn't feel right. None of them jumped out at me. I didn't hear any of them calling to be a part of my hair's life.

This is the "moonlight teasing brush"... but I need by brush to work in the daylight too. Not just the moonlight. Next.

This is the "amped up teasing brush".... but can you really amp me up? Will you amp me up like my last one amped me up? I'm just not sure. It's not you... it's me.

So, I'm basically lost right now. I think I will move on eventually... but right now, I'm grieving. It's a natural process, but a hard one.

Not teasing.

Lightening Storm

Last night we celebrated my fantastic Sal Pal's 30th birthday!!!! We surprised her at Dave and Buster's and just had a marvelous time playing games, winning tickets, and celebrating that 30 looks good on her!!!

After we were decided to wrap it up because we are all very responsible adults and have school/jobs the next day, Duck Dude and I had about a 40 minute drive home.

As we were driving home there was an incredible lightening storm that totally captivated me. It was beautiful and totally distracting as I was trying to drive. Storms have always fascinated me. I love them. My parents taught us to love them. If a storm was rolling in, we were on the back porch watching it. Then as we were on the back porch, we listened to my mom share stories of listening to the rain hit the tin roof porch of the house she grew up in.

When it was my sister's birthday and we were out at the lake park right by our house and a storm blew in, it was no big deal! We went back to our house and made a blanket fort to sleep in... after watching the storm roll in on our back porch.

When we were camping and it would thunder and lightening we played games and watched movies in the tent. On a family video, we are only a little older, and my dad comes in the tent and we are watching "My Fair Lady". We grew up on old movies, but that's a whole 'nother post! The rain never lasted long while camping, or that's how I remember it!

When I was a freshman at Baylor, I was getting groceries with the girl in the light green jacket... she was from Oregon. We came out of Wal-mart and the tornado sirens started going off. She asked what they were and I told her. We made it back to the dorms just in time for them to tell us to prop our mattresses against our windows and go in the hall. The girl in the dark green jacket was calling everyone saying goodbye and she loved them....... I brought diet coke and suckers into the hall because I thought it was a party!

When I was a sophomore at Baylor, there was a hurricane coming up from the gulf, and we were supposed to get these hurricane winds and 30 inches of rain (or like 5).... we built a massive fort in our kitchen/living room/dining room. We left it up for a week. We played catch phrase in there, watched movies in there, and had a splendid time.

So thank you wonderful lightening storm. You allowed me to be nostalgic my whole drive home!

My Bridal Pictures

I would be terrified to do any part of a wedding without an excellent photographer. Luckily, we found the perfect one for us! She was fun, she understood what we wanted, and she made us relax!!

I was pretty nervous for my bridals. I hadn't ever worn my dress for a long period of time, I didn't know what my hair and make up was going to turn out like, and I seriously had no idea what the pictures would turn out like. All the unknowns were making me anxious.

I had my mom and sister Laura Pocket with me for bridals. They were the two best helpers ever!! They told me when a hair was out of place, they did about 3 hours worth of squats, and made me genuinely laugh for the "laughing" pictures.

We began at 2:30 and finished shooting at 6:30. I had over 497 pictures to choose from and I love them all for very different reasons. I took some pictures in one of Duck Dude's duck shirts just to surprise him!! And my former quilt boss let me borrow her braided mink.... so I obviously took some ridiculous pictures with that. I have already returned it in case there are PETA members reading. Here is just a glimpse of our day!

Happy Wednesday!!!
